GUATEMALA!!

We started our trip the day after Christmas. We were up forever with all the family the past couple of nights and then had to get up at 2am to get ready. We were at the Airport by 3:45am...Thanks Rusty! This shows just a fraction of the tiredness we were feeling. We were so excited to go see mom and dad that the thought of seeing them is was what was keeping us awake.

Coming out of the Airport was crazy! We seriously felt like we were movie stars. No one is allowed in the airport unless you have a ticket so when you walk outside there is a massive amount of people all behind a little fence and you seriously feel so overwhelmed.

As we were walking out we saw Mom and Dad right away, the white shirt on dad and moms blonde hair were a complete give away.

Finally Here!!

When we finally got out of the crowd we went right to the store. We went to price mart, Costco for US. As we were parking Dad pointed out the guards that were in a watch tower. Ya! Totally had machine guns like it was no big deal! It was nice to know that our car is safe be still. It was a little intimidating. As we went shopping it was hard to not notice the people looking at us. Alissa with her White Blonde hair and me with my Fire Engine Red hair. It was pretty funny. Alissa definitely got some double takes from the men.

We learned that you cannot just eat the veggies and fruit after washing them off with a little water. They have to kill all the bacteria on each and every fruit and vegetable they buy. So mom showed us how she has to do this. They have a product that they mix with purified water and I think bleach.

That night Alissa and I went to bed so early! We were super tired from traveling. We were so excited to finally see mom and dad after a year and a half!
